CASSY: A flexible solution for every teaching need

The foundation of CASSY's success lies in its modular structure. The system offers the best combination of measuring device, sensor and measuring software for every requirement. CASSY demonstrates versatility within these three main components for a wide variety of educational environments. The trio of basic devices, sensors and software options can be put together from the comprehensive range to fulfil the specific requirements. Launched over 35 years ago, the CASSY family is one of the most successful and popular systems for measurement data acquisition and evaluation in education worldwide. It enables experiments with or without a computer and integrates digital teaching methods, such as working on tablets. The flexibility of the system ensures that it adapts to the different requirements of demonstrations, student experiments or practical experiments. CASSY impresses with its ease of use, flexibility and precision.

CASSY basic devices: The basis for precise measurements

The basic devices within the CASSY family have proven themselves in use in all types of schools and in university education. They offer easy handling, fast and precise recording of measured values and a wide range of functions. The robust devices are ideal for teachers and lectures who are looking for a reliable and practical solution for science lessons and lab work.

  • In focus: The versatile Mobile-CASSY 2 WiFi student measuring device

The Mobile-CASSY 2 is the universal student measuring device for all measuring tasks in physics, chemistry and biology. It is compatible with all CASSY sensors, which are automatically recognised when plugged in. The Mobile-CASSY 2 impresses with a measuring speed of up to 500,000 values per second and its large display means it can be used immediately at any time without the need for an additional terminal device. The networkable Mobile-CASSY 2 uses the existing WiFi for connections to tablets, smartphones or PCs. The unique advantage: up to four students can connect to a CASSY at the same time and work with the measuring device directly in any web browser - without any installation. Students can control the CASSY directly from the interactive experiment instructions Lab Docs or experiment freely with the CASSY.App Web.

  • The Sensor-CASSY 2 for the highest demands

If the capabilities of the Mobile-CASSY 2 are not sufficient, then the faster and cascadable Sensor-CASSY 2 with additional inputs and outputs is the right choice. The inputs for measuring voltage and current are galvanically isolated and have additional measuring ranges up to mains voltage. The CASSY Lab 2 software and the controllable relay and output voltage also allow more complex measurement and evaluation tasks.

CASSY sensors

Robust, versatile and developed in-house

CASSY offers over 60 sensors with more than 100 measured variables. The automatic recognition of the sensors by the CASSY devices saves teachers and students the time-consuming set-up and preparation. The CASSY sensors are characterised by adjustable, practice-oriented measuring ranges that enable experiments in science education to be carried out in line with the curriculum. The CASSY sensors do not require their own power supply or batteries because they are supplied with power via the CASSY device.

Intuitive software

for analysing measurement data

In addition to recording, analysing measurement data is also important. The intuitive CASSY software CASSY Lab 2 offers a simple display of the measured values as well as simple and complex analyses. The software offers integrated experiment examples as well as the option to create your own configurations. You can save and share the measured values, which facilitates collaboration and the exchange of information.

Digital experimentationwith Lab Docs and app

The CASSY system is supplemented by a browser-based app, CASSY.App Web, and the interaction with the digital experiment instructions Lab Docs.

When instructions and measurement technology interact with each other, this enables efficient data exchange: measurement settings are transmitted directly from the Lab Docs to the Mobile-CASSY 2 WiFi. The device sends the measurement results back to the Lab Docs, where they are inserted into tables and diagrams in real time. The data is simultaneously transmitted to the tablets of the connected students and can then be analysed independently in their own Lab Doc. Up to four students can connect to a Mobile-CASSY 2 at the same time.

The combination of Mobile-CASSY 2 WiFi and the new browser-based CASSY.App Web enables free experimentation in student groups with their own tablets, smartphones or PCs. The CASSY.App Web enables the free setting of measured variables, measurement parameters and axis assignment. Individual analyses, several simultaneous measurement series and the export of the measurement table make the CASSY.App Web even more powerful.

Sustainable and well-thought-out

The Mobile-CASSY 2 WiFi offers smart and environmentally friendly charging management, which enables up to eight devices to be charged simultaneously in one go. The devices are powered by six replaceable NiMH standard rechargeable batteries, which are still ready for use even after long periods of storage without charging. In addition, the Mobile-CASSY 2 WiFi supplies all connected CASSY sensors with power, eliminating the need for separate batteries for the sensors.

The CASSY system also impresses with its durability. Even though there have been technical and visual changes to the CASSY system, the sensors from the first hour can still be used with new CASSY devices today. This future viability is also reflected in our approach that all standard tablets, smartphones or laptops from any manufacturer and platform can be used with the CASSY solution.
