Setup and analyse block-oriented control loops

The block-oriented setup of control loops, analogue to block diagrams, is the central strength of our modular training system. A wide range of modules, including a selection of controllers and controlled systems, enable scalable experiments.

The CASSY interface is used for data processing of all relevant system variables and acts as an interface to common simulation software such as WinFACT, MATLAB/Simulink and LabVIEW. This makes it possible to test controllers in a simulation and compare them with real control loops.

For the transition to industrial applications and topics, we also offer more complex control systems equipped with industrial controllers and sensors.

The LEYBOLD training systems teach control technology in a practical way using numerous examples. Whether servo, brightness or flow control - we offer a variety of controlled systems for comprehensive experiments.

The experimentation goals include

  • System characterisation
  • Step response
  • Controller parameterisation
  • Stability criteria, e.g. according to Nyquist
  • Fuzzy Control

Our modular systems cover the entire spectrum of control technology, including the control of single-input single-output systems (SISO), multi-variable systems (MIMO) and non-linear systems, with large-scale models such as:

  • the inverted pendulum,
  • the MIMO (twin rotor) and
  • the magnetic levitation system.

Learning on industry-related components, controllers and processes is possible with our practical training systems.

Industrial sensors and transducers

With our systems for sensors and transducers, we complete the range for measuring non-electrical variables. We provide training systems that are designed for the use of sensors in an industrial environment and cover relevant application scenarios. Recognising faults and defects is also an important learning content.
